American Film Studio Launches National Scholarship Initiative to Support Community College Film Students

June 19, 2025

Dallas, Texas – American Film Studio Corporation is proud to announce the launch of a new national scholarship initiative aimed at supporting aspiring filmmakers studying at community colleges in five major cities across the United States: Los Angeles, Dallas, Austin, Chicago, and New York.

The initiative is designed to recognize emerging talent and help remove financial barriers for students pursuing careers in film, television, and media arts. With this new program, American Film Studio reaffirms its commitment to building a more inclusive and accessible creative industry by investing in students at the grassroots level.

“Great storytelling doesn’t only come from Hollywood—it comes from classrooms, neighborhoods, and communities across the country,” said Kam Junejo, President of American Film Studio Corporation. “Through this scholarship initiative, we want to make sure the next generation of filmmakers—regardless of their background or zip code—has the opportunity to learn, create, and contribute to the industry.”

The new scholarship program will provide selected students with direct financial assistance to support their academic and creative journeys. In addition to funding, recipients will be offered access to mentorship and select educational resources through American Film Studio’s affiliated training initiatives, including Hollywood Sessions and The Master Shot series.

The selection process will focus on demonstrated passion for filmmaking, potential for growth, and a commitment to using media as a tool for meaningful storytelling. A limited number of students will be chosen each year, and applications will open later this fall through partner community college departments in the respective cities.

American Film Studio has a long-standing history of supporting young creatives through mentorship, international workshops, and career-building training. This scholarship initiative expands on that legacy by focusing on local talent within some of the country’s most vibrant and diverse creative hubs.

“There’s no shortage of creativity in these cities—what’s often missing is the support system to turn that creativity into a career,” added Junejo. “We’re here to help bridge that gap.”

More information about the scholarship—including application timelines and eligibility criteria—will be announced in coordination with participating colleges and community organizations in the coming months.
